The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA)in cooperation with Philippine Librarians Association,Inc. -Zamboanga Peninsula Region Librarians Council will conduct a lecture-forum on IFLA-FAIFE Internet Manifesto as the second phase of the training on June 12, 2009 at the Araceli F. Caliolio, SCC Library, Southern City Colleges, Pilar Street, Zamboanga City.
This event objective is to raise awareness among librarians of the potentials and risks of the Internet. This is also to provide librarians with an understanding of the impact brought by the Internet to Librarians and an overview of the Internet Manifesto vis-a-vis the library policy on the use of Internet as a tool for Research. This is also to give opportunity to our colleagures to discuss and share their views on the impact brought by Internet.

Enhancing Library Collection and Professional Competencies as Information Specialists in an Electronic Age and PLAI-ZAMPEN General Assembly
The Philippine Librarians Association Inc. (PLAI) - Zamboanga Peninsula Region Librarians Council will conduct a two-day seminar-workshop on “Enhancing Library Collection and Professional Competencies as Information Specialists in an Electronic Age and PLAI-ZAMPEN General Assembly” on May 15-16, 2009 at the Audio-Visual Room, High School Department, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Tumaga, Zamboanga City.
This activity aims to retool librarians and information specialists of their roles in the library world today and understand the new paradigm of collection in the electronic age. This will also encourage our colleagues to collaborate with other information specialists to update by exchange of experiences and ideas to improve our library services to the community we serve.
A registration fee of Php. 700.00 for non PLAI members and 500.00 for PLAI members and LS students will be charged to cover the certificate, lunches, snacks and other expenses that the Association’s activity may undertake. (PRC-CPE accreditation unit on-process) This is also to inform all Licensed Librarians of PLAI- ZAMPEN to be a member or if you are already a member to renew your Annual Membership Fee of Three-Hundred Pesos (Php.300.00) during the registration of the said activity (remittance of membership fee to the PLAI National level will be on the 3rd week of May). First Librarians Night
The PLAI-ZamPen conducted a simple gathering of librarians on November 29, 2008. This was held at the Instructional Media Center of Universidad de Zamboanga (Main Campus). The said activity was attended by 18 librarians from the public, school, college and academic libraries in Zamboanga City. To include, following are the librarians who attended the said activity:

237 out of 1,003 passed the Librarian Licensure Examination
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 237 out of the 1,003 examinees passed Librarian Licensure Examination given this November 2008.
